The Visual Media Department has been granted a gallery space at CCSF and wants to contintue to brand the space as their own. Emerege Studio was given the task of creating a visual identity for the space including a name for the space and a logo. We were also instructed to keep movement in mind for the logo. As a studio we spent weeks on research, developing an understanding of brand identity, and then designing logos.
This space would be a place to display the hard work of all CCSF VMD students who create creative and inovative design solutions for class, clients, and personal. The space needs to be a place of creativity, design discipline, and reflect the timeless contemporary designs that are being produced by students.

During our research we found inspiration in other museums, design magazines, and shape language of buildings. many found inspiration in the actual shapes found in traditional letter press machines. Looking for simple geometric and clean lines. Many students found bold san serif letters to be more representative of the space rather than the traditional feeling of serif characters.
The first Em Space logo I designed uses specially designed positive and negative space to abstract the letters e and m while making reference to lines found in traditional letter presses.
The second logo is a rotation of the same shape to spell out em or em space. The creation of this logo was meant to allow one shape to role out of the other.
